day 2/365: Valentino & the Red Carpet

you’ll see a few of the same faces pop up quite a bit here on #dressobsessed. Anne Hathaway is one of them. not only is she one of my favorite actresses, she consistently stuns on the red carpet (there might also quite possibly be a slight girl crush involved). every dress fits her well, of course, but the way she carries herself in each of them, and the fact that she is willing to take risks (like that sassy little black number for one of the Les Mis premieres. yowza!) only adds to her appeal.

here she is in a “vintage” red Valentino gown from his Fall 2002 Couture Collection at the 2011 Oscars.

with all the poofing and ruching going on in the back, this dress probably would’ve overwhelmed anyone else, but Anne knows how to work the red carpet and her confidence and ability to swoosh the train just so for photo ops played out well. i love the giant rosettes at the sides and the sneaky floral inseam on the bottom hem in the back. well played, Valentino.

i also love the contrast between the vibrance and shimmer of the red against her fair skin and brunette locks.

i have to give props to Rachel Zoe for dressing her as this dress was the first of 8, i think, for the night and they were all amazing.

now for a little more Valentino runway porn.

brace yourselves…

…it’s bohemian! i love that he brought this style onto the glam stage.

here’s another shot of the same dress on Kate Hudson (yet another style crush) at the Golden Globes for some red carpet perspective.

i would love to have an an excuse to wear this dress, but, alas, i change diapers and scrub toilets for a living.
